Brief: To create a trophy depicting the theme of the year for the Monsoon Fiesta.
About the project:
This was a group project where we created the trophy for the Monsoon Fiesta, the yearly fest with a battle of design disciplines. We had a vague idea about the theme when we started the project, a cohesive story about an entity inspired the fest. The entity was inspired by the peacocks of NID, and the goal of the entire fest was to symbolically defeat the entity. Therefore, we went ahead with depicting the skull of the entity as the trophy (sounds a little violent, but it's not about actually killing peacocks).
The theme behind 2023's Monsoon Fiesta was around elements and their powers. The main goal was to defeat a Peacock inspired Entity. The inspiration came from the Peacocks of NID, and we decided to go ahead with that as the basis for our trophy design.
Inspiration & Intent
Ideation sketches for the Trophy's Form
Process Photographs, 3D printing the trophy body in PLA, the light fixture in Resin, sanding and spray painting the trophy to get the optimal finish.
After assembly; the trophy (detachable) mounted on the rock base made out of stacked MDF and putty.
The trophy at the award ceremony, received very positive feedback from the students. I am grateful I got to work on, and learn from, such a fun collaborative project, thanks to my team.
